The Maui Nui Digital Equity Coalition (MNDEC), unites partners across Maui Nui to bridge the digital divide and enable everyone to access the internet, computers, training, and support. MNDEC aims to create community-based action plans ensuring digital equity for all, regardless of socio-economic factors.
Goals for this meeting:
Develop digital equity project proposals to submit to the Hawaii Broadband and Digital Equity Office (HBDEO) to include in their proposal to NTIA for Capacity Grant Funding.
Burt Lum of HBDEO provided an overview of the NTIA Capacity Grant program. Proposals for digital equity projects are due to HBDEO by Monday, April 22, 2024.
A project development worksheet was provided to assist small organizations with fleshing out digital equity projects. HBDEO is offering to assist applicants with developing project proposals. Applicants can email the HBDEO team at DBEDT.InternetforAll@hawaii.gov or call the office at 808.587.9001
Review and refine the Community Connectivity Survey to optimize data collection in support of upcoming grant proposals.
The results of the survey will inform the size and scope of digital equity projects and funding proposals.
